Ch. Vertesi Selymes Nabob CD CGC"Tomba"Tomba and his sister Temes were born in Hungary in May 1998. In July, they were flown to Virginia and then driven across the United States to their new home in New Mexico. Tomba went to his first show in February 1999. He came home with 7 points including a 5 point major! His next shows were in Albuquerque in May where he won Best of Breed one of the days. In late May, we made the long drive to Kalamazoo, Michigan for the 1999 Kuvasz National Specialty. Tomba won the Sweepstakes judged by long-time breeder Agi Hejja. In the Specialty, he was selected as Winner's Dog from the 12-18 month dog class earning another 5 point major. His father, Taltos, was Winner's Dog at the 1998 National Specialty while staying in the United States which made this win even more special. Two days later, Tomba was again selected as Winner's Dog for his third 5 point major. He finished his championship in real style! In May of 1999, Tomba began a tutor class at West Mesa School for Dogs. He learned all of the Open exercises and significant portions of the Utility exercises prior to his debute in Novice B. Tomba's first obedience show was an Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) trial in February 2002. He earned a 196 and first place in a class of 11 dogs. At his first AKC obedience shows he earned a 194 1/2 to place second in a class of 41 dogs the first day and a 193 1/2 to barely missed placing in a class of 35 dogs the second day (his score was 1 point less than the second place dog). He earned his second ASCA leg with a 194 1/2 and a second place in a class of 10 dogs. At our local shows in May 2002 he finished his CD with a score of 193! Tomba had to be retired from showing due to a health condition. He is more spoiled than ever and we enjoy each and every day with him. Tomba was tested for the most common health problems. His hips are normal (PennHip 0.21/0.21, OFA Fair), elbows are normal, eyes are normal (CERF KU-313/1999-9), patellas are normal (KU-PA20/12/M/P-T), there was no evidence of OCD at the age of 12 months, and he is vWD normal.
